The lid is a screw-on design with a thumb-slide closure rather than a press-fit cap or a flip top. Screw-on lids seal better against a tipped-over mug on the center console, and the thumb-slide opens and closes one-handed at a red light without the lid coming off entirely. Black plastic trim runs around the lid, the rim, and the base lining, giving the blue body a hard visual stop at both ends instead of letting the color wrap unfinished.
