This Honda Purple Steel Travel Mug is part of Honda’s officially licensed drinkware program, produced by Metro Speedgear under license from American Honda Motor Co. The intellectual property belongs to Honda Motor Co., Ltd., and the mug carries the same Honda branding standards as the rest of the IndyCar-series accessories line. It’s a single-color, single-purpose 16 oz tumbler: purple body, black trim, Honda mark, hot coffee or iced anything between the parts counter and the next stop.
Construction is stainless steel with double-wall vacuum insulation. The double wall is the spec that actually matters on a travel mug — it’s what keeps coffee hot through a morning commute and keeps condensation off the outside when the contents are cold. Stainless holds up to a dishwasher rack, a tumble in a center console, and the cycle of fill-rinse-refill that a daily driver puts a mug through. At 16 oz the capacity sits in the standard travel-mug range — enough for a real cup of coffee, small enough to fit most car cupholders.
The lid is the functional half of any travel mug, and this one is a screw-on with a thumb-slide closure. Screw-on threads keep the lid sealed against the body without the slow leak that snap-on lids develop after a few months of use. The thumb slide opens and closes the drinking aperture with one hand — useful at a stoplight, useful walking out of a service drive carrying a clipboard. Black plastic trim runs the lid, the rim, and the lining, providing the contrast the design relies on against the purple body.
The colorway is purple with black trim — a deliberate choice, not a standard corporate palette. The Honda mark sits on the body in the licensee’s standard placement. There’s no IndyCar livery printed across the side, no driver number, no team graphics — Speedgear catalogs this under the IndyCar Series tag because of the licensing program, not because the mug is a fan-merchandise tribute. It reads as Honda dealership drinkware, which is what it is.
Single SKU, no size or color variants. Hand-washing is the safer bet for any insulated stainless tumbler — dishwasher heat can shorten the life of the vacuum seal over time, regardless of what the dishwasher-safe sticker says on the bottom.
